Salina Parents Arrested After Six Children Found in Hot Vehicle Outside Restaurant
Two Salina parents were arrested Wednesday afternoon after six children were found inside a vehicle parked outside a restaurant during extreme heat conditions.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 2:15 p.m. on July 8, 2026, to Wingstop, 1621 S. Ohio Street, following reports that multiple children had been left unattended in a vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle containing six children: two 7-month-old infants, a 2-year-old, a 4-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 13-year-old. Police reported the vehicle was not running, had no air conditioning, and only one window was partially down.
At the time of the incident, the temperature was approximately 97 degrees with a heat index of 102 degrees.
Officers identified the children's parents as Michael Krueger, 53, and Tiffany Krueger, 40, both of Salina. The parents were located inside the restaurant.
Witnesses told officers the couple had been inside the business for approximately 20 to 30 minutes and had not returned to check on the children during that time.
Salina EMS responded to evaluate the children at the scene.
Following the investigation, both Michael and Tiffany Krueger were taken into custody and transported to the Saline County Jail. Each was booked on six counts of Aggravated Endangerment of a Child.
All six children were taken into protective custody.
The investigation remains ongoing.
