Trump's canceled Salina rally moved to tele-rally, RNC says
President Donald Trump's Oct. 31 rally in Salina has been moved to a tele-rally, the Republican National Committee announced Thursday.
"Due to popular demand and an incredibly busy campaign schedule leading up to Election Day, President Donald J. Trump's Salina, Kansas rally on October 31 has been moved to a huge tele-rally," the RNC Press Team said in a statement to media.
Trump will host the tele-rally to support U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall, state Sen. Ty Masterson and Kansas Republicans ahead of the Nov. 3 election, according to the statement. The RNC said the president "will be bringing his America First message directly to voters across the state." The statement did not give a date or time for the tele-rally.
The rally had been scheduled for Saturday at Salina Regional Airport Hangar 509, 2734 Arnold Court, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m. and the president's remarks set for noon.
Salina311 reported earlier Thursday that the in-person rally had been canceled. Pieter Miller, executive director of the Salina Airport Authority, confirmed the cancellation to Salina311 and said the airport was informed only that the event was canceled because of a scheduling conflict.
Saline County restored its original Saturday advance voting hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash St., after earlier shortening them because of the planned rally.
Salina311 will update this story as more details are released.
